Sheikh Ahmed Yassin Ra7imahuAllah was born in al-Jura, a small village near the city of Al-Majdal, in Palestine. He and his family moved to Gaza after his village was destroyed in 1948 during Zionist's ethnic cleansing of Palestine.

Sheikh Yassin Ra7imahuAllah was Martyred in a Zionist attack on 22 March 2004. While he was being wheeled out after Fajr Salah, a Zionist helicopter gunship fired missiles at Sheikh Yassin Ra7imahuAllah and both of his bodyguards. They were Martyred instantly, along with nine bystanders. Another 12 people were injured in this crime, including two of Sheikh Yassin's sons.
